Capturing the warmth, wonder, and joy of the season

The Beauty of a Christmas Moment

Christmas photos can be formal or candid, traditional or creative, but they all share a common purpose: to capture the spirit of the season and the love of family. Whether it's a posed portrait in front of the tree, a playful snapshot of children opening presents, or a cozy moment by the fireplace, holiday photos are a way to preserve memories and create lasting keepsakes.

It is always fun to capture a variety of memories - decorating the tree, baking cookies, opening presents, and more. These moments are often the most cherished and can be the most fun to capture. We encourage you to embrace the candid, joyful moments that make the season special, and we are here to help you create beautiful photos that reflect the warmth and wonder of the holidays.

When we take holiday photos far ahead of Christmas, often to include in Christmas cards and invitations, the "season" outside may be quite different than what we want to capture in our photos. Sometimes we need backdrops and other "props" to create the feeling we are after, but as soon as we start taking pictures, it will not feel artificial anymore. We will be creating the holiday spirit together, and the photos will reflect that. We are happy to work with you to create the perfect setting for your holiday photos.

More Than a Photograph

The time we spend together in a photo session is about more than just taking pictures. Santa and Mrs. Claus are really there - children often bring Christmas lists to their photo sessions and Santa always has the time to hear their Christmas wishes. Mrs. Claus may have some milk and cookies available, and Santa never gets too far from his guitar or a quick singalong.

The reason we spend so much time together is that the photos only capture a brief moment of our time, but we want you to remember our visit as much as Santa and Mrs. Claus want to cherish the time we have together. We want you to have fun, to laugh, to sing, and to create memories that will last a lifetime. Relationships and loving each other are the main course of our lives.

When you sit with family or friends to look over holiday photos, you rarely think about posing for a camera. Your stories are more exciting, full of energy, and the experience you have as a family taking photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be much more than the few seconds it takes to snap a picture. Your photos will be a beautiful reminder of the love and joy you shared during your time together.

Families, Children, and Traditions

Continuing the tradition of holiday photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus is a wonderful way to create lasting memories and celebrate the season with your loved ones. Whether you are starting a new tradition or continuing an old one, every year brings a subtle change in your Christmas photos, and your family will notice and speak about those changes every Christmas.

Some families customize their holiday photo traditions using a theme, a specific location, or a particular style of photos. Some families have a tradition of taking photos in matching pajamas, some like to include their pets and some have a certain location they like to use every year. We have a family that has all the adult men wear matching cardigan sweaters and hold a pipe in their hands, and other families who like to wear kilts.

In a studio setting, we can arrange various backdrops and props, but the kinds of poses and interactions could be preplanned or spontaneous. We can work through details in advance so that your session runs smoothly.

Capturing Your Season

As you plan your holiday photos, we encourage you to think about the story you want to tell and the memories you want to create. Do you want to capture the excitement of children opening presents, the warmth of a family gathering, or the beauty of a winter landscape? Do you want to include pets, or focus on the children? Do you want to create a traditional portrait or a candid shot? Do you want to include Santa and Mrs. Claus, or do you want to focus on your family and friends?

Also spend a little time thinking about what you love about Christmas. Maybe it is a song you hear every year, a movie your family watches together, a story from childhood, a favorite meal, or a tradition that has become part of who you are.

As any of these thoughts surface strong feelings about the kinds of photos you are after, share them with us and we can work together to make your experience a fond Christmas memory of its own.
